The Lion and The Rose
When the clients request at 15th century Fortified English Manor House for
their spectacular collection of antiques CRS eagerly accepted the challenge.
Historical research on traditional castle design coupled with contemporary
lifestyle needs was blended into this unique home. Located on a high hilltop
overlooking the Trout Creek valley the 5,000 square feet of above ground space
was a challenge to make it appear like a much larger castle. The challenge was
accomplished by placing the two upper level bedrooms toward the front of the
home and adding stepped parapet walls to screen the roof lines beyond. Many
spaced in the home were specifically designed to fit the owner’s antique
furniture such as the 12 foot tall headboards in the guest rooms.
Octagonal turrets, beveled glass, windows, real plaster moldings and crowns,
marble floors. The castle has been featured on the Travel Channel and the made
for TV documentary series American Castles, as well as published in Castles
of Colorado published by Johnson Books of Boulder Colorado.
